Driffield Golf Club has an active and friendly Ladies’ Section and caters for anyone from complete beginner to very experienced golfers. Members’ tee times are available daily (with rare exceptions) so there is ample opportunity to enjoy our excellent course and our game.
Any lady wishing to take up our sport and progress to membership will be supported by our dedicated professional team and ladies within our section. Guidance will be readily available to help you play socially throughout the year, gain a handicap and enter fun competitions, progressing to whatever level you wish to compete.
On Tuesdays during November to mid-March we play fun team competitions, for ladies with a handicap. The competitions provide opportunities to meet new people, make friends, relax with a well-earned drink, snack or lunch and enjoy our clubhouse and catering. As we approach the Christmas period a Turkey Trot competition is arranged and a ladies Christmas competition, lunch and Secret Santa.
During April to October, mainly handicap qualifying Stablefords and medals are played. 9 hole Stablefords run alongside the medals. There are also some better balls and foursomes fixtures plus club knock-out competitions and the annual championship day. Prize giving is in November and during the Ladies AGM in February.
There are other events to enjoy during the good weather including Lady Captain’s Day, an exchange visit with another club and prizes for all, invitation day, opens and mixed competitions all with the emphasis on ‘fun’.
The Yorkshire Ladies County Golf Association (YLCGA) has various leagues and Driffield GC compete in the Scratch, A and B leagues giving opportunities for those with a HI up to 36.4 to represent our club. We also have a friendly team who enjoy light-hearted matches against other clubs.
